Griound wire or Box Ground??

Just got my truck ('79 F250 4x4) out of the paint shop and now it's time for wiring of tail lights, back up lights, side lights, clearance lights and driving lights.

From a bunch of guys that have done lots more of this than I have, they've said that the way to go is to run a dedicated wire right from the block as a ground. If it wasn't so many guys saying it, it'd just ground the box and carry on but this has me wondering.

Is it a better way to go? Dedicated ground wire I mean? Seems like the rubber grommet mounted taillights on trailers and on my Rebco welded box all come with three wires and seem to be set up for ground wires.

What ya' think?

Trailer lights have ground wire because that's the way they made.
Especially for Boat trailers because they are submersed in water.

As far as your truck goes it's entirely up to you.

Were you thinking of running the whole loop of ground wire in parallel ?
or you were you going to have them meet at one spot ?

I was thinking of running a wire from the engine block backwards and forwards. One to the bumper/winch mount where the driving lights will go and another back where I will pick up the lights on the headache rack and then on to the rear turn/brake light setup.
