Wiring Help
Hi guys, I have a 77 F150 that I just did a bed swap on and had it painted.......now I am having serious wiring issues that were there before but, not discovered.............the prvious owner jas things in the tailight harnesses royally messed up........I have good wires to the back of the bed.........I have power and gound at the sockets when the park lights are on, but the bulbs wont light up....they are good bulbs.....thats all the firther that I have gotten, and this is becoming cumbersome........I am really thinking about re-wiring it all.........does anyone have an easy to follow scematic for the wiring for these harnesses ? I have Haynes and Chilton and Im not having much luck with their wiring diagrams...........a simple sketch or what not would suffice........any information would be great. Thanks

If you are sure you have good wiring all the way back, I would check your grounds and sockets. I just got a 78' F150 Custom and the sockets were so corroded that I couldn't get enough current through the bulbs for them to work properly. Take the bulbs out, look at the sockets. Check for any rust or corrosion. I took a volt meter and checked for continuity and voltage and it was weak! So check those things and see what's up. If they are corroded, you can try and clean them up, but it seems that most of us have had to just replace the sockets. Good luck with it!

You mentioned it was recently repainted. By any chance do you have a flareside? The reason I ask is I powdercoated the mounts for my tail lights. The powdercoating screwed up the ground to the bed. When I ground the powdercoat out of the bolt holes, ground problem gone.
