Does anyone know where i can find come chrome valve covers for my 1987 ford f150 5.0 EFI? The only ones i see they say wont work with efi cause they will hit the intake! Thanks
I have an older version of these MUSTANG FORD RACING VALVE COVERS 'FORD RACING' CHROME 289/302/351W on my truck. I think there may be a picture or two in my gallery too. They were exactly the same size as the original stamped steel valve covers, just without the filler neck on the driver side.
Those Ford Racing linked to in the previous post have the following description (note the last sentence):
FORD RACING VALVE COVERS 'FORD RACING' CHROME WITH BLACK 289/302/351W
Part Number: VC110
Pair of Ford Racing Chrome 'Ford Racing' Valve Covers with Black Lettering for 289/302/351W Non-EFI Mustangs.
These premium stamped-steel valve covers are offered in a deep chrome-plated finish. They have emblems and script displayed prominently on the top of each valve cover in black inlaid paint. Includes baffles and grommets. Sold as a pair.
Best I can tell, that's only true for the mustangs - they fit my 302 EFI truck engine without any issues. I don't know how far through the truck model year range this holds true, but the chrome valve covers on my '87 EFI 302 are the same stamping as the factory valve covers other than the lettering and the oil filler neck on the driver side.
You also have to remember the intake on the mustang spans wide across the top of the motor and thats why they hit. That is also easily solved by an intake spacer to allow the upper intake to sit higher.
