Ok, so that would mean as soon as the converter is locking the OD light starts blinking. And still these two bum codes.

Did about as much as I can, ended up driving it with the selecter locked on 2, and it wouldnt trip the light. Ended up running into my neighbor next door (Im new in Rural NJ, he's been here forever and knows everyone) he was nice enough to make a call and my ol steed has a date with the trans shop this upcoming week. I am leaning toward it being a solenoid since it wont do it in first or second, maybe a 3/4 shift solenoid? They know each other from years of dirt track racing and he's supposedly a great guy so Ill post back! Thanks so much for all your help!

E4OD transmission problems

Hokay - I'm new to both forums and Ford tranny problems. '93 Ford 350 with 7.3l Diesel, e4od tranny. Normal driving, no load. OD light starts blinking "OFF", which I understand from research indicates slip. Tranny begins shifting xtreme hard. I first started driving this truck about 7 years ago during the summer, and hard shifting began about 10 mos. ago. Disconnect batteries and reset computer, tranny is OK until without warning begins shifting hard again. NOTE: shift characteristics have not changed since I began driving the truck. I have never had the transmission slip at any time, even when pulling a large trailer with a very large fork lift on it. New TPS, adjusted to 1.2 volts at idle position. Any ideas from anyone? -- Thanks for checking -- BW

Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test Here is a link on how to get any trouble codes. You would have to wire in a meter or test light as shown, I would think. You also need to keep the gas pedal to the floor (engine off) while getting the codes. Or you could buy an OBD1 code reader for around $30.00.
You will need the OD light flashing and not clear the codes by disconnecting the batteries.
In case it helps, your speedo and tach both need to be working for the E4OD to shift properly.
