Tuner question

Hey guys, so first of all, im not asking for personal opinions on tuners, i know all the tuners and i know its a pick your poison type of thing. Here is my question, I have a buddy who works for Dynomite Diesel in Washington and he says he has been tuning 7.3L trucks for some time now. I like the idea of this because he lives in town and we can really tweak my truck the way him and I want to have it. However, the cost is comparitive to my next choice which is Gearhead tunes and I dont want to throw away the money with my buddy if his tunes turn out to be not what i want. So I thought I would see what you guys say about this situation. Should i go with a known tuner who has obviously proved himself with the PSD guys or should i go with the local friend who has taught me alot about these trucks and works for an established truck shop. I just dont want to mess up on a 500 purchase and be upset or be out that money and have to switch in the end.

i see why you might want to do this but hear me out, i was on PSN a few months ago and i was listening to matt talk about tuning and what he said astounded me, he just has all the goods to account for EVERYTHING, hes got alot of superdutys with the junk rods in them well over 500hp becuase he can account for the right cylinder pressure and spikes and all that whodad that i dont know specifics on. ANYONE can grab some tuning software and tweak there trucks and think they can tune there truck but are they accounting for every little tune and tweak to work in sync together.

i was all for matts but i came across a screaming deal on a DP f5 i couldnt pass up but i have all intention of picking up matts tunes in the future, gearheads tunes are fantastic expecially on the OBS. my cousin rich and i, (foxracing) just got back from a camping trip, but on the way up he pulled next to our buddy with 05? dmax with an edge tuner, hot dang that thing moves and rich blew him out of the water on a 55mph role with stage 2s with stock truck tunes on my old matts gearhead tunes.

I hear what your saying Steve, I think i read the same one on PSN. That is what made my decision on Matt's tunes if i go that way. I like the idea of having someone in town that i can go to if i need to have something tweaked, but i also understand that anyone can have generic tunes and that might be all he has. I dont think i can go wrong with Matt's tunes and i think im second guessing myself on my buddys tunes so i might just go ahead and give Matt a call and talk to him about this. See what his .02 are and see what he has to say considering my truck is basically stock except exhaust, intake and gauges.

I'd run with Matt's tunes... There is probably a reason we don't see any decent power PSDs with Dynomite Diesel tunes... Just sayin...

If i had a 5 speed truck or one day i walked out and magically a BTS was sitting up under there. I would have no problem calling Jim today and getting some hybrids. I wouldn't even have to think twice.
