Guage pointer positions

Help !

I need to know what positions your guages go to with the ignition key on, cold motor. With exception to fuel and volts, do the speed, tach, temperature and oil pressure guages all go to absolute zero? I did some work this weekend within the instrument bezel and apparently I did not zero in the needles when I replaced them afterwards. I have a 1998 Expy, 5.4L. I would be greatly appreciative if someone outhere in Expy-land could turn their ignition on and let me know what they see. My guess is that they all go to the lowest measureable position, voltage is around 12.5V and fuel is dependant on the tank level.

Thanks for ANY feedback!

Greg

Also, what position are they in with the ignition off?

Thanks again,

Greg

Guage pointer positions

LAST EDITED ON 10-Oct-01 AT 02:01 PM (EST)[p]Greg:

Surprised nobody replied yet. When the ignition is in the "key off" and "Accessory" position all gauges are at zero. When the key is in the first position before starting, the gauges go to the actual readings, ie. fuel, voltage, temp and pressure. The pressure, voltage and tach jump when the engine is turned on.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info Deb. When I got the guages back together, I was doing 35mph sitting still! I got them all as close as possible, pretty much matching what you stated, and then ran to fuel up so I could set the fuel needle to the top position. I was on about 1/8 tank and it was reading ~1/4. What I should have done was to reinstall the package, cycle the ignition so that all the needle shafts went back to their original positions, and then installed the needles back. Evidently, as I removed the needles I turned the shafts, causing my indexing to be greatly off upon reassembly.

Thanks again!

Greg
