I know they jack the prices up...but that blew me away...heck...theres someone on ebay trying to sell these for a 65 Mustang for 60 bucks...needless to say they are still there...
Someone will buy the parts, cuz many people are have no clue what is available and what ain't.
And most a the dealers are to blame for this, you wanna know why?
When you waltz into the parts department, and say 1965...before you can say Mustang...the cluck will say OBSOLETE!
Whether that's true...or not, makes no difference because most partsguys don't want to bother, and just shine you on.
There is no effort required to get part numbers for newer vehicles, all that's needed is the vehicles specific VIN.
Type that puppy into Ford's computer system, ALL the part numbers for that specific vehicle appear on the screen.
But, this doesn't work on the older stuff, and since an effort is required to look up the parts, and most of the partsguys are not partsguys at all, they're computer certified techs...
They don't know diddly-squat about much of anything older than the mid 1990's. Some a these clucks don't even know any basic part numbers or how to look up them up.
ND I don't have that spring; PO saw to that - thanks for looking. I thought maybe I could get by with one of those lock washers that I could push down the steering shaft to hold it in place, but then to remove it if necessary would be interesting. At any rate, I had the front end looked at last night after work, and was told (and I'm not surprised) that the steering box is shot. Now I'm wondering if a Toy p/s conversion is in my truck's future. Oh yeah, Boss I tried calling, but I can't quite hear your phone number all the way, can you try again?

I left you another message. I should also have an extra spring.
