My 07 has 40,000 miles, runs great has the latest flash - wrench sign came up and I limped 50 miles home. Dealership checked it out and code was an over-boost, shop could not find anything wrong and has not appeared since (2,000miles) Should I be worried or does this happen every once and a while?
Thanks.
I would be a little concernd, overboosting could cause a host of other issues. Usually when that code appears the urbo si disassembled and cleaned. Had it happen to me 2 x's, first time the turbo was cleaned, second time the enter section was replaced, been good ever since.

Thanks I will keep an eye on it. Turbo is very good with performance and runs at 20 -28max - according to in dash gauge no oil or obvious leaks around the boots. I have a pretty good dealership as they re appointed my truck for a better look after the code was determined. Two hours in the shop looking for the cause, not entirely sure what they did but were thoughtful about it and could not find anything. i do have a bit of an "in" with the service manager.

Dealer says battery is low (1 yr old batts), because of bad alternator...$450 please for a remanufactured alt.
I understand the low FICM voltage and bad FICM could be explained by a low battery but what about the high boost? He tells me that is probably from the low battery also...ain't buying it. Says they cannot continue troubleshooting until the alt is replaced...right.
So who has the best price on an alternator...Summit Racing, 110a, new $138.50. Any bigger alt I should consider?
Call up the guys at DC power and pick up a nice alt. for around 300.00 You can replace it yourself, its easy to do. If the batteries are a year old and they say they are bad, dig up your reciept and have them replaced.
Go to this sit and search alts. DC Power Products Inc. Great products well built and great servcie too.

Sarge, the link takes me to an industrial fork truck battery and charger site...? Not sure why I would buy a $300 alternator when I can buy one for $138.50, what is the benefit?
