I looked at it and despite having a few dents and being very dusty, overall it looked like a decent rig for the money. It's an auto as well. Didn't see any puddles. Going to test drive it tonight. Anything I should look out for? This would be my first non-turbo diesel.
check sca levels, look for rust on leaf spring mounts, cracks in back upper corners of cab, how it cold starts, and everything you would normally check on a 19 year old vehicle
As mentioned check SCA's alos check the coolant level if either are bad don't buy it chances are the cylinder walls have holes in them. Still a risk you have to take when you buy a 7.3 my truck had good SCA's and coolant level but only because some one poured a huge amount of block seal in it when the block seel let go and I pulled the motor the petcock was almost plugged with the stuff. also check for coolant in oil oil in coolant if its an auto see if its been rebuild recently if not it may go tomarow or may last another 50,000 if your lucky mine let go at 233000ish no signs of any exces wear infact the friction surfaces were still good but the lugs that locked in the drum sheared. If it has a c6 aut its probly fine check the fuild for burntness discoloration and friction matierial if its not there you are probly golden a e40d on the other had if not recently rebuilt will be a ticking time bomb. sheck the streering linkage for play and all the normal automotive stuff. make sure the oil pan is not leaking motor has to come out to reseal it. thats all I can think of sorry for the rant but felt its worth mentioning everything could be fine and dandy by the checks you need to do but it could still have the problems.
