I have a 1976 Ford F150 4x4 with a 390 in it, and i was wanting to swap it with my 1977 F150 400 engine, they both have a C6 transmission, will they interchange?
Is the '77 also 4WD? The bellhousing bolt pattern is different. The C6 trans has an integral bellhousing and can't be switched out. The engine mount towers would also need to be swaped.
then you need to find a 2wd fe tranny or you need to take both your c6's and make one out of two using the tailshaft from your 2wd on the 4x4 tranny.. that would be best done at a tranny shop. also you'll need to find the frame perches. i had to buy a whole truck just for the frame perches and the tranny when i did my fe swap.
