Hey everyone I ran into a little problem
When I disassembled my intake the metal harness heat shield wrapped around my bolts so I cant use them no more.
(The old bolts where like 4 diffrent sizes??)
I went to the hardware store and got to diffrent kinds of bolts ones are just a tad longer and the other ones are a tad shorter. Witch do you think would be better? They didnt carry the same bolt.
One last thing I been tryin to delete my smog for a while I also got the block off bolts and serched up some articals and pics. Im just havin trouble findin what to block off...If im on top of the motor say laying down would it be in the center stright down ??
Yes, that helped alot. It got me rollin, I took that back steal peice off...Can I reuse them same bolts and just put some washers at the end of them you think ?
Ehh, I tryed to put it back in ( i been running from the shop to the lap top if you cant tell lol) They fit into that steal peice to screw in, but when its out the bolt needs to be quite a bit bigger.
The bolts needed to plug the air-injection ports in the heads are 5/8" regular coarse thread. 1/2" long is what you need, but most hardware stores don't have that, so buy the shortest 5/8" bolts they got then cut them down. You may have to chase the threads in the heads as they often get packed with carbon. After you're done plugging the big ports there's no need to reinsert the small bolts that held the AIR pipe in place, as their holes are blind. Some folks actully don't even bother with the 5/8"bolts, but instead just flip the AIR pipe around and use the smooth surface at its ends to block the ports off, but IMHO this is just rigging it - do it with the bolts and call it good once and for all. Actually they do sell threaded inserts for that very purpose (plugging holes in the heads, not the air-injection ports per se), but 5/8" bolts are cheap and readily available at any hardware store, whereas the inserts may be a bit hard to obtain on short notice.
Its been a few days, and Im tryin to plug them holes. I thought i read it was a 5/8 but that was quite big (corse thred).
Im pertty shur i tryed every standered size below that...any ideas ?
thanks
Well which holes are you trying to plug? The ones I'm talking about are the big ones that meet up with the pipe, yes they are big but so is the pipe...
Yes, I belive we are. When the stock bolts went into that steal thing they where alot smaller going throught that hole at first then, then the bolt to plug it.
