2005 Hood insulator?
Well lookin to buy a hood insulator for my 05 PSD.. Have looked on line and it is amazing the difference in prices.. they go from 191.00 to as low as 139.00..

Well here is the question.. 1)Does anyone know of a vendor that is reasonably price and knows there stuff.. 2)Also looking for the part number for the insulator retainers??? how many do I need??

There are 8 of the bigger ones for the hood insulator and 10 that do in the rubber weather tyupe strip that goes across the front to hold it on. I think I got mine from the dealer but not sure on price as I put it on in 05 when I got my truck. Memory not that good anymore.

i bought one for my '07 a couple of years ago from my dealer, around 100 bucks

I too bought one back when I bought my truck...if I knew then what I know now, I'd pass on that expense.

What did you find wrong with it. Mine has held up well. I was surprised at all of the things that they left off of the truck. Door lights, glove box light, fender liners, hood insulator and rubber piece under hood.

I have a LOT of squirrels..... let me rephrase that.... I HAD a lot of squirrels.

Oh yeah, that hood mat didn't quiet the engine hardly at all.....

I understand that. No it didnt really quiet it to much at all. That was the reason for the 1000 watt amp for the kenwood.

Just chiming in here, I thought the real purpose of the hood insulation was to protect the paint on the hood from the turbo heat. Is this inaccurate?

I know what you mean about squirrels!!! Purchased my 03 new. Had it about 3 months. One morning it wouldn't start.. Dealer had it towed to shop.. Found out squirrels got under the hood did a job on my wiring 500.00 repair bill..No More Squirrels On My Property..They walk in and get carried out..lol

My truck comp insurance took care of MY bill. Ford had to replace the entire engine harness. I took my saving on that and purchased a nice pellet gun!

LOL. Good for you. Now its not like you live in Oregon or Montana. They let you own guns there in the East. I am sure they are reading this post and running you through the system to hunt you down. How many ways can you prepare squirel now??????

I buried 'em.......Pellet guns don't make much noise. All the neighbors saw the damage and said..... "go get 'em, Bud"

I though them over the fence out back and the coyotes take care of them keeps the food chain going
