going big: leaf spring questions
I bought a set of 10" atlas lfit springs off a late 80's f series, and when crazyredneck (dave) came to my house he pointed out that the axles will be bumped forward about 2" with these. That probably won't work with steering lock to lock with the 44's. Sooo I've got those up for sale. Dave pointed out that a 6" lift spring for a 99-04 super duty will fit, extend another 1" past the center line to give me better shackle angle, and is normally good for around an 8" lift on the 70's trucks.
I want to go a little higher, and I found these springs:
Poly Performance JEEP/TRUCK & BUGGY :: Springs :: ICON Vehicle Dynamics :: ICON Early 99-04 Ford Super Duty 4"-8" Lift Front Leaf Spring Kit - 4x4 Off-Road, JK Synergy Suspension Systems, Fox Racing Shox, Beard, CNC Brakes, Johnny Joints®, Currie Ent
Those should be good for 8-10" of lift on my truck if the above is true. I also like their construction, they look like they are built to be as soft as that type of spring can get so I'll still have some articulation.
Would these work?
Part II:
For the rear I've got a ruff stuff shackle flip which typically nets 2-4" of lift depending on where its placed. I'm planning on using these deaver 6" leafes from bronco graveyard:
Super-Flex Leaf Pack, 6in. 10 Leaf H58
If the rear needs up a little to match the front I can always go with a short block to even it out.
The goal is around 10" of lift all around to clear the 44's with minimal trimming and to have a ride that isn't cement truck stiff, and hopefully have a little bit of flex left for when I do go offroad.
Please give me your thoughts, comments, advice, etc!
