hey guys i got a 2000 ford excursion. about a month ago i did a little 4 wheelin when i was out hunting. when i was on my way back my excursion started to lose power. what it did is when i stepped on the gas it would go about 2000 rpms then kinda act like it has a transbreak on it. kinda like a misfire but with out the back fireing. get where im coming from? so i just kinda brushed it off. and as i started driving the next day i drove about 7-10 miles and it started it again. only if i steped on it a little bit. but it started to gradually get worse. then today i was sitting there in my truck talking to a buddy with my suv on and it started puttering and died on me. but thru all this the check engine light never showed, untill today. i went and ran the numbers and it says bank 1 and 2 running lean. some people say vac leak. but if it was that i think it would do it from start to finish and it only does it a little bit after it warms up. some say maf is dirty. i tried that i blew it off with some air. but been hearing its better if i use a solvent with qtip. i had my fuel pressure tested and its running about 38psi. and before i went 4 wheelin it ran like a champ then all of a sudden this. and before go out and spending money on stuff i dont need to i was thinkin i could get some feedback from maybe some of you who have had this problem or even know whats wrong.... if needed i could even get a video going of what its doing. thanks in advance..
ya it was checked when it was running like junk. pressure was checked because it was acting up like this even before the cel was on. it just turned on today and its been doing this for about a month now. so i would kinda think that a fuel system problem would be out of the pic since pressure is up to par.
thanks for the comment tho.
Did you check the connection at the O2 sensors? You say you were wheelin'. Maybe something caught the wires or??
This is a V10 right?
yes sir its a v10 and have not checked connections. i gotta find them first. this is my first vehicle this new. im used to the older trucks. pos neg and carb easy...
Have the spark plugs and boots been replaced? I wonder if you have a worn boot and it's causing an arc, grounding out? Possibly a bad COP?
I have yet to try this... If it would be that, wouldn't it be messin up right from start up and not after it warms up like its doing? And what is the cop?

I had bad spark plug wires on my Camry once. It idled just fine, but when I rev it up, it would sputter. Then when at a lower rpm, it sounds normal. It turned out that the insulation on the cable part that goes into the valve cover and over the spark plug had a crack and it was grounding out against the valve cover. Once I replaced the wires, it was fine.
Arching should occur only inside the cylinder and not outside...LOL.
You have a coil over each spark plug in the V10 (V8 also). They are the round black things with a wire attached to each. Underneath, there is a rubber boot with a spring inside. This insulates the positive charge from the negative ground. The boot also prevent water and dirt from going down into the spark plug. A crack in the boot could be shorting it out and causing power failure in the engine...You're not firing on all cylinders. Maybe this is where you're getting lean exhaust. Fuel is not being burned and pushed out the exhaust, hence being picked up by your O2 sensor and triggering the CEL.
