I am looking to purchase a 2005 Ford F-350 with the 6.0 Diesel. Are all the 6.0 L Diesels PTO Capable or do I have to look for anything peticular on the truck that it will tell me that it is capable? Looking for good answers. Thanks
All manual trans and 4x4 6.0Ls are PTO capable. All manual trans and all transfer cases have a PTO mounting point. Only some automatic transmission have one.
The way to tell on the automatics is to look at the driver's side of the transmission. If there is a sheet metal cover on the side that's the PTO access. If there is no sheet metal cover then that trans is not PTO capable.
Just because you have the cover where the PTO goes doesn't mean it will run a PTO. Especially on autos, I think there are some hard parts missing unless it was ordered with the PTO option, like the gear on the overdrive drum. Can someone else back me up on that to make sure info is correct?

Sorry, can not back you up in this particular case. The 5R110W TorqShift either has it or it does not. Those ordered with the PTO option have the access plate and those there were not do not...

I can confirm that you are wrong. If the automatic has the access plate on the case then it has the hardware inside to operate the PTO.
