I just bought an 08 F-350 CC DRW with 27000 miles. I've been driving it about a week and the engine will just shut off. If I'm going down the highway I'll fill the truck jerk but the engine will come back on with out having to crank it. The other day I pulled up to a stop sign and it just died but started right back up. It's done it one time where it took about ten minutes before I could get it to start again. I took it to the ford dealer and they said there are no codes in the computer and can't find anything wrong. That was a week ago and they still have the truck. Any ideas what might be wrong. Thanks Daniel.
The exhaust back pressure sensor is known issue, sooting up. Hard to say and with no codes, it leaves little to start with. Hopefully you have a tech who will look at everything.
I seem to remember a post long ago where a cab off repair was done and one of the main wire harnesses was not plugged in/seated fully causing a similar set of problems. There's probably not a trouble code in the PCM for that. Just a loose connection somewhere.
First off want to say thanks for all the help. Finally figured out the problem. It was a broken wire in the main engine wiring harness right next to the PCM. Harness is on order should have the truck back in a few days. Thanks again
