I was hoping someone could tell me what the engine code "Y" is for a 1966 f100. I have several 1964 model trucks and the books for them, but nothing for a 1966 model. vin F1OYC886404
Thanks for the quick response
Now I need more help. I bought this 1966 f100 a while back, it has a 351w and an aod from a 87 LTD in it. The project was never finished so now that I have it I was thinking I should go back with the original engine and a 3 spd transmission. The question is when the 351w was installed did the engine mounts have to be changed, if they did to what extent.
Aaron, The 302/351W used a different perch from the FE/I6. The 351W AOD combo would make an excellent daily driver combo. Good power and overdrive. I would leave it if it was in my truck, and I am a bid FE fan.
When I bought this truck I was going to use it for parts (no title) since then I was able to get the title. It has a straight body that needs only minor repaires. A little bit of the bed is rusted through and it needs floor pans and interior work. I really didn't buy this truck to drive, but now that I have a title I thought I would put the originall engine in it (looks like a less time consuming job) and sell it. The reason it looks less time consuming is that the guys that intalled the 351w and aod didn't get all of the stuff for the variable venturi carb, and the std shift column is still in it. I would have to finsh the engine work and after I get that done I would still have a std shift column to use on the auto transmission. Any advice or tips
