Hey guys, I asked this in the 73-79 forum but got no response, so I thought I'd try here. When I got my '77 (351m) it already had a non-egr Performer 400 intake on it but they'd put this horrible upside-down adapter thing on it and were using the stock 2 barrel 2150 carb.
I recently got a used Eddy #1406 carb and installed it but after looking around online I keep seeing references to an adapter and even the install manual says this:
"You must use Edelbrock Adapter #2732 when installing a Performer Series carburetor on certain Edelbrock intake manifolds."
But I cannot find anything that says WHICH manifolds need it??
It seems to run fine but I would like to put it on if it's supposed to be there, it's only like a $5 part. It's supposed to seal up the bottom edges of the carb.
Anyone else running this particular combo? Need the adapter or no?
Thanks guys! Got tires coming this Saturday, can't wait!!

OMG! Finally got the adapter plate and the throttle stud I needed through PepBoys, installed them today...and...wow! This thing runs like a dream! Started right up, took one quick tap on the throttle to settle the idle down and it idled like a brand new engine. I'm sooooo glad I bought that 1406 carb!! Adjusted the mixture screws, set the idle screw and it's perfect! Now if I can just get the rest of it road legal! lol
Thanks again Smokey (I was leaning toward thinking I didn't need it before your response), I must have had a vacuum leak because even though it ran better with the 1406 on the there it still popped a lot through the exhaust and idled rough, that adapter made all the difference.

That's good to hear, Madfrank. Keep that baby on the road!
