OK so my dash rattel has been getting worse and worse due to bad shock, put in some Bilstein 5150's and it is 50% gone.
It seems to be coming from under the defrost vents, right in the center. It is a solid metal on metal sound I can't push/pull on anything to stop it.
I have tried tightening, the bolt under the little covers........................
It makin me crazy................ anyone know how to pull "the rest" of the dash off, I have the large over the stereo and steering wheel panel off. Now it looks like I have to pull the hole dash off
anyone with an exploded view maybe i can fit my hand it some other orfice to get to the rattle..................
I feel you pain my friend.. I would rather pull a motor than deal with a squeak/rattle.. They can be a pain in the **** trying to get it figured out.. I am out of town and i just popped open my cd tray and WHAT? No ford repair cd. What tha. Must have it at home on the desk. I never forget my cd when traveling.. So sorry i cant help yea. If by chance i run home tomorrow. I will grab the cd and see if it has some instruction and schematics. Here is a bump for yea anyways.
It probably not your rattle, but mine shifter on the column rattles... I can just put some downward pressure on the shifter and it will stop..Took me awhile to find it..I too thought it was inside the dash...

I will give it a try tonight when I get home from work, at one point I thought it was coming from the steering column...................
no go on the shifter..................... I sounds a lot deeper in the middle of the dash around the defrost vent. anyone know a trick to getting my arm up in behind there. Or am I going to have to pull the dash anyone have any instruction?
Now I havn't gotten a new exhaust yet... but I have heard that the down pipe could be hitting/rubbing against the fire wall causing funny noises.
The fact that you're saying you hear the noise from the middle of the dash is what made me think of it..... So maybe check to make sure that the clamps are all tight and not rattling and that the down pipe isn't hitting the fire wall...
