Speed is money and stupidy plays a part in money spent. I got plenty of stupidy on tap to spend what little money i do have. LOL. I could see a truck like yours running 12's on fuel only.. Wait Todd's truck is just like yours and runs 12's on fuel only!!!

I wish i had that kinda money. Lets see, 3500 tranny, 2500 injectors, 700 hpop, 500 electric fuel, 500 intercooler, 500 chip, 3000 turbo, 100 springs, 600 headstuds, so there is my 12 second truck at a grand total of 11,900 which equates to 2 quarters at the university.
Shoot, i guess i can't take the money to my grave right???

And if you did all that to a Superduty you'd have an extra $10k into it from the get-go and STILL have to put most of that into the truck. Probably have to swap out the PMR's, and you'd end up with the same injectors as you would with your '95.
Plus your '95 weighs less.
Totally worth it to spend it on the '95 instead IMHO.

Ya, there is quite a few things that would make a SD more desirable than my truck guys. She has been through alot.
I want to be a police officer when im done with school, then someday own a business like my father and grandfather.
Ok guys, so I've been doing some thinking lately, i agree its nice to have no payments and be money ahead initially on the truck. I am wondering if i should save my money and throw a tranny in their first, or should i throw injectors in there and see how long the tranny lasts? I was going to talk to Matt about this as well but i just wanted to see what yall would say first.
If you put a better valve body in and bigger cooler the trans should last longer as long as it's in good shape. Also a temp gauge to keep an eye on it.
FYI... IIRC when you get a BTS valvebody he will put that towards your trans when you get a full build later on.. That way your not spending the money twice
It's all driving style.
I've had Stage-1's in my stock '97 for almsot 3 years now and I expect the trans to last a long time. I just don't drive it with my foot to the floor all the time. If you do, the trans will need work in a few weeks, as will the turbo.
Drive with a light foot and use the power on occasion and you should be fine.
That's IF the trans is in good shape to start with.
I think you have something helping the trans in one of those trucks. If the 97 has the J.F. or not think about equipping both trucks with the full float hybrid version 427 fordman has in his.

If you drive like a bat out of he!! it won't last long no matter what unless you do a strong rebuild. Mine's got 150xxx miles on it. I've been really nice to mine, still haven't tried to go WOT from a dead stop, don't want to wreck it. Hit it from about 20mph, mucho more power...

`
RacerX, please explain HOW your valve body 'helps' the trans.
