No one can decide this for you. On one hand you buy new and get whatever warrenties come with it. On the other hand, you go pull it from a salvage yard and take your chances. At least youl gett all the parts (hopefully) from the salvage yard. Or if all else fails install one of these:
I have a brand new complete a/c unit in the box I will sell you. my wife bought it for me but I will not be using it. it was for my 66 Bronco but I believe it fits the F100 series trucks. PM me if your interested. shipping is kinda spendy, probably around $70 to your location.
Overlandexpress tell the make and model #'s of all that you have and where your wife picked it up so I can call (please include the telephone #) and see if it'll work on my old truck. Also give me a price for everything including shipping. I could be very interested. Thanks for everything, Kevin Felix Okay I'm new to this forum so I do not know what PM me means please let me know so I don't have to wonder anymore, thanks again for all the information, Kevin Felix

A/C parts from a '66 Bronco will only partially fit a F100/250.
What engine is in the Bronco, a 170 I-6 or a 289? What F Series Truck came with either engine? None.
The mounting brackets for the compressor, engine pulleys, other engine A/C mounting parts will not work with the 352 engine. The A/C hoses will be too short.
The condenser and dryer tank will work, as will the compressor, but the OP will need the correct brackets.
The hang-on unit will bolt under the dash, then what?
Post #12: I located the pulleys....but no one will have the correct brackets except a junkyard.
The OP cannot use the P/M (Private Message) feature until he has 25 posts.
Thanks Bill, once again your information is invalueable. I would have never guessed the A/C system wouldn't be a direct cross over to the F100. Your knowledge is a great service to all FTE members saving us time, money and mistakes.
Thanks Numberdummy, I going to the junk (salvage) yard today I think I've located the pulley of a 1968 LTD with a 390 engine in it. I can also get the bracket of the compressor as well as the compressor itself. The compressor is a york and it lays down instead of standing up, the mechanic said this is better because of the vibration (less in the lay down type). Do you think this will work or should I purchase a new compressor. Thanks again, Kevin Felix
Thanks God for gentlemen like Bill, that being said do you have a price for every thing that Bill said will work. If you need to call me my cell is 806-435-0417. I can have a/c hoses built, pulleys and brackects I located, what else would I need. Does your unit have a/c, heat, and defrost. Does the air connect to the unit from the back of it or do they exposed and come in from the underneath side. Vintage air told me that there mini series comes in under the unit, while there compact came in from behind so the people in the truck could not see them. I think I would rather have the behind type. Thanks Kevin Felix
Bill another thanks for the call this morning you just saved my neck again, also a big thanks for telling about Bo Chum in Ca., I just got of the telephone with him and he's going to see what he has got and call me back. He really is a knowledgeable guy just like you had impressed upon me. Thanks again for everything. If you are new to this forum (like I am) the people giving most (or maybe all) the information are very nice and correct. Kevin Felix
Please tell me what rep means and what happens when you rep someone, it does not sound as if it is a friendly thing. Thanks for this information Kevin Felix
