8.8 from a newer F-series/SUV would probably be the simplest way to go. Though fabrication would be necessary for mounting track bars/trailing arms to keep the axle under the truck since the Bronco frame was never so equipped.

Lots of the go fast desert racer guys swap to coil overs all the time. They usually set up a 4-link for the rear and mount coil over shocks in the middle of the support links. You could mount them onto the axle it would just provide less travel. You could do coils like a solid front axle set-up just reversed. Might need a little more bracing just due to the amount of torque going to the rear all the time.
Coils would affect your towing capacity unless you got some really stiff ones.

Yea I was thinking of doing it like a SAS. Are there 8.8 coil sprung full size axles stock? (full width) I think Explorers are coil 8.8, but they are narrow. is an Expedition full width and coil?
