Well the Edge (and other manufacturers) does periodically offer updates to their hardware. Sometimes these updates simply allow the programmer to support more calibration codes. Sometimes they increase features (such as the ability to read additional engine parameters).

However, if I had custom tunes (which you will get from 5Star) I would not update my hardware without first asking the them. I would also not do it until I had flashed my truck back to stock (at my house) and made sure it started 2-3 times.

Not sayin' you can't update, but it's always a good idea to check with the guy that wrote the tunes first. That's why it's so important to have a reputable and reliable tuner (like Mike Butler from 5Star).

What do you mean by flashing? Is that where you disconnect the battery a couple times to clear the tuner from the main computer?

No. Flashing is when you transfer the stock program to the tuner and replace it with your custom tune (performance, towing, etc.) or vice versa.

Yes - it will come with instructions and I'm sure Mike will answer any questions.
