Anybody else unhappy about how their shocks work when their truck is empty?? The back of my truck bounces alot over small bumps in the road. Certainly not the kind of performance I would have come to expect from Rancho.
On a side note does Bilstein make a replacement set yet??
I aired down the rears to 70, then to 65, now at 60 or 59. Now the stupid low air chime has to be acknowledged every time I start the truck. The ride is much better and I actually towed my 5th wheel about 20 miles with it, after checking for sidewall bulge and tread patch contact. It did fine but if I was to tow on a trip I would go back to 65 and start there.
I've read my manual about rotating your tires and re-training the sensor location, but I haven't seen anything yet about re-calibrating them for lower pressure, and the event that the next set of tires may have a pressure much lower than 80.
BTW I don't know if the shocks are worth two cents either, they certainly have CHEAP CRAPPY hard plastic covers to make them look like Ranchos. I loved my other SD when I put on Rancho 9000's and wound up putting the rears at 1 and the fronts at 3, this was on a 1 to 9 scale I think it was.
I have a Lariat also. My low pressure warning comes on when any tire is at 62 or less. Very little margin for error. I would like to run the tires at 60 psi but leave them at 65 psi. Seems to be the lowest I can go without dealing with the low pressure alert.
I dropped down to 65 psi and it made a difference for sure. I just need to get some more of my stuff in the back of the truck to weigh it down a bit. I wonder if there is a way to tell the sensors that you want to be at 60psi.
Thats a bummer. Ride quality is really good on smooth roads however there are some roads that are a little intense. Weight is probably going to be the only way to improve the quality without going to a different shock.
I have a Lariat, don't know if that matters. Does XLT come with low air pressure sensors?
I was unsure if it did, until today.
The TPMS light came on in my truck this morning.
For whatever reason I did have 61 psi in the front right tire when I checked. This evening I made sure my tires were 65 psi in the front and I have the rear set to 70 psi. I have driven 30+ miles since and can't get the darn thing to turn off. I still have the factory Continental 275/65R18 tires.
Hopefully I don't already have a slow leak in that front right tire.
I'll be checking it.

I'm not sure what the special number is but 500 lbs payload changes everything.
