I primarily hang out in forum 41 (1948-60), but am experiencing a problem with my wife’s 2001 Lincoln Navigator air conditioning system and want to see if you guys can help me figure out what is going on. When we drive the vehicle, the AC works great. When we come to a stop and idle, the AC system begins blowing warmer air. Any help on identifying the problem would be much appreciated.
Oh sure, first your ignore us for the company of another forum, then you have the nerve to come crawling when you need help.
The first thing to do is hook gauges up and make sure the system is full of R134a refrigerant. If it's low then that's the problem. If it's not low, then you're not getting enough airflow across the condenser in front of the radiator. This could be due to debris (leaves) in there, dirt, or perhaps the radiator clutch fan could be worn and slipping. In the case of the fan clutch, when it slips it does not draw as much air through the condenser and the radiator.
In case none of these ideas help you, there's also an air conditioning/heat forum here on this site.
