The most efficient head in terms of fuel consumption is the 300 EFI head. It burns so much faster that the spark schedule is significantly less than a 240 or 300 carbed head.
However, one caveat: Significantly modifying the chamber for improved flow - at the expense of reduced charge swirl and tumble - will reduce its efficiency.
