my 86 efi 302
i am driving down the road...and out of nowhere my fuel pump relay will click maybe 1nce maybe twice maybe 3 times maybe enough to cut fuel flow and make my truck stall.it is a brand new relay because my truck left me stranded not too long ago and i thought the problem was the relay so i got a new 1 .when it does stall it may start back up right away but then maybe not it may wait a few seconds,or maybe fire and then die right back out ,or it may just stall out and not want to start at all and i sit there cranking and kill my battery.i believe uit is a fuel problem, but cant be sure my friend suggested me checking the ground and hot wires in my high pressure pump for good connections, but i went out there today and got under there but this weather was too much for me so i said the heck with it (it is like 4 degrees outside here today)the guy at the parts store (the day i bought the relay)said it probly wasnt the relay, that he thought it was either a pump or the pressure regulator, which i have the new pressure regulator still in the box but it appears that i need to pull the fuel rail off to get at the screws and i wasnt feeling upfor that either in this weather.,but i dont think the regulator would make the relay go nutz because it has no electrical involvement,it is just a vaccum lin 3 screws that hold it to the fuel rail.
