Hi. I'm new to the site. I drove big trucks for many years. mostly yellow motors. I just bought an 86 f250 ext 4x4. I am a mechanic. but this is different than VW. i'm learning my way around it. I keep reading posts on the CDR valve
what is it? how do I check it? everything else seems to be ok. GP's work good
starts easy. I love the torque. very happy with the truck. thanks for all the info.
CDR is the Tuna can looking thing attached to the backside of the intake inlet on the intake manifold. It's held on with (2) 1/4-20 bolts (7/16" wrench).
Pull it off, soak it in gasoline, DO NOT BLOW OUT with compressed air!
Using your MOUTH ONLY, blow into the little hole on the face to ensure the diaphragm is not blown, you should not hear air leaking and you should feel the diaphragm move.
If you've wrenched on the yellow stuff, you can wrench on these. Just check around in here first before tackling anything you're not sure of (injector pump replacement is a biggy that tends to get folks in trouble!!) Like anything, there are ways to do things, and sometimes there are also the easy ways, and the hard ways.... often if there's an easy one, it will get posted here for ya!!
