you would disassemble it inspect the vains for damage and pitting. you would need to look at the impeller and compresser housing for damage. you may or may not need to replace the unison ring as well.
Thanks Cheezit.

I have allot of oil in the cooler. Does the new center section have all new seals as to us looking at it and working on turbos for our international semis we are thinking that the turbo needs a seal kit but not sure on this type of turbo.

the center section is complete with evry thing you need.
also it is very improtant that you remove and drain the charge air cooler of all oil.
as once again oil in the cac can and will cause a run-a-way. Dont ask how I know this.

Thanks agian for all of your help. I trust you and your have given great advice to so many. We are pulling the motor so the cooler is coming out and will be flushed. I will see if the radiator shop will do it so I know it is really clean. Do you think the CCV could be a source for all of that oil? Is there a number for the center section? Should I replace the cac tubes. They were replace by ford a couple of years ago under warranty. Have 20,000 miles on them.

Edit. I have the reconditioning kit for the turb also. I think I got it from international. I believe I used the number m-chan gave me.

if the cac tubes are fine you can clean them with breakclean and compressed air. there is a chance that the ccv system could have caused some oil to be in the cooler. for it to be a lot of oil from the ccv system you would have to have a bunch of blowby.

if you go to the ford dealer just ask for a "chra" aka center housing rotating assembly.
sorry I dont do part numbers. Im a tech not the parts guy thats his job to find me the right parts. mines to tell him what parts I need him to find

Yes you can, you just have to find a garret dealer who will sell you the parts. The VGT has an odd model number but I do know that the parts are available. I've already done mine, you just have to know the width of the bearings. I do know that the later model turbo's had wider bushings than the earlier models and the 03 parts don't interchange without machine work.

Thanks npc. I am thinking I will do a CCV reroute and the center houseing. Hopefully that takes care of it all

I understand and I have a source or I couldn't either. I don't recommend it for 99.99% of most people either unless it's a life or death financial emergency. You're MUCH better off to buy a new turbo or CHRA.

Will the chra solve the problem or is a new turbo a better way to go. I have 58,000 mile on the truck. I just want to do all of this once as that is why all of the parts.
