I've had the recall done. I replaced my front pads with ceramics because of dust. In doing so I accedently pushed one of the pistons out of the calipar. I was compressing one side and the other side poped out without me knowing, I had the rotors off, getting turned.
I bled the brakes with a vac pump. brakes were OK but not great.still a little spongey. So I had a friend come over and we did the pump and hold method. worked great.. for a month or so,, now its getting spongey again.. Whats up?? Im not losing fluid..
Is there air traped in the ABS system??
How do I get it out??
What size are the bleeders?
Im thinking about some speedy bleeders.. they worked good on my bronco
The brakes sucked on this truck from day one.. I wish it had hydroboost brakes
PS I have adjusted the master cylinder pushrod.. Whats going on here?
I am a huge DIY guy.. but does this thing need to go to the dealer to bleed the abs system? Thanks for any help...Billy

The ABS Hydaulic Control Unit can only be bled using a NGS or better Ford equipment/Scanner. The procedure is very simple, but there isnt any way for you to do it correctly without it. It will have to go to the dealer. You could try a vacuum bleeder and you may get lucky. If the air is really trapped in the ABS HCU though....it is unlikely to help...

That being said....I would make sure that you do not have a Master Cylinder issue. Though A leaky dump valve in the ABS HCU can mimmick this concern...Soft pedals and poor braking performance can be tricky to diagnose....

Is there any way to diagnose a master cyl, other than replacing it?
These brakes are so terrible from the factory I swear u couldve pushed the pedal to the floor when it was new..
