XMSN acting up- No Codes???

XMSN acting up- No Codes???
My '05 F150 5.4L 4x4 is having a few transmission issues. It has 'slipped' out of gear 3 times, 2x under acceleration and once cruising on the freeway at 65mpg. This has been in the last 2k miles, total miles on truck is 41k.
The check engine light never came on and I took it to my friendly mechanic and no codes where shown or pending.
Each time it slipped duration was for no more than 2 seconds and the tach would hit about 3500 rpm and it would drop back into gear.
Any thoughts?
