I've got a couple of problems with my steering I need some help with. When the steering was converted to power steering, it was left with now rag joint or slip coupling. I was tolerable for a long time, but now I want to deal with it. Looking online, both LMC and JEGS offer shafts for '70 on, but not for before. Was there a change in 70? They say they are for a 3/4" 36 steering column. Can I use that? Or adapt it? Was there a rag joint or a slip joint on the original 68?
Second problem is one of nomenclature. What is the shaft that attaches to the steering wheel called if the lower section between that and the steering box is the shaft. Mines bent and I want to replace it.
Does your truck have a "Rag Joint" or a "Slip Joint" ?
I just had to figure out the same thing on my 69 that also has had a power steering conversion. What I found is the original power steering trucks had a rag joint, and the manual steering trucks had a slip joint.
Since my truck has been converted to power steering, is still had the slip joint.
Parts for the slip joint come from Wild Horses 4x4(Broncos). They worked perfectly.
My truck now has neither - which is my problem. I have a feeling that sourcing a rag joint to fit the new power steering gear box would be difficult, so I assume I'll have to find a slip joint. I think I might get one from Wild Hourse since they can make me a custom one to match my column gear box.

That sounds like a very good option, and it sounds expensive.
Have you considered finding a shaft that fits the steering box, and then using your own creative ingenuity to attach it to the steering shaft ?
Mine was welded, but I wonder how well. You know the strong way is to sharpen each end before welding them together.
