Question Cab Swap Question

Looking for inforation about making a cab swap. I have a 1999 f350 v10 AT 4wd thats been rolled. It needs a front clip and cab. My plan is to swap a cab and front clip from a donor. No doubt it would be easiest to swap from another 99 v10 at 4wd but what problems would I run into if I use a 04 v8 4wd or a 02 f250SD 2wd, etc, etc. I assume I need to change ECM going from v8 to v10. Would it need a wiring harness change also? If going from 2wd cab to my 4wd chassis I'll need the hole in the floor for the shifter but what else. Any help, pointers, FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE, etc., appreciated. I've found a 04 thats close to home and not too bad a price the only difference being its a v8. Thanks for your help.

A same year/model swap would be the easiest. You will find that most harnesses are compatible across many different models so long as the basics are similar but you could wind up have to switch wire positions with a harness so that would mean releasing the pins and moving them hoping they lock back in.
Going from an 99 to an 02 physically should be a direct fit but to an 04 may take some modding. I havent messed with the 04s and up. A new ECM will be needed at the least due to the diff engine. Although you my be able to get the same one reprogrammed depending on the board setup especially since there are a few diff ECMs in the 99 year, (early, mid and late). The harness should be the the same one just check the pin outs between the two.

Hopefully someone will fill in the blanks more for the 04 but from the design, I would think it would be a drop and bolt assuming the frame is still straight from the roll over.

Good luck with your rebuild. take some pics. Always nice to see some rebuild steps and pics. you never know when someone else has to go through it.

04 should be fine, it was 05 when the body changed and the engine changed to a 3V.

cab from 99-07 would work, but you would use your old dash and harnesses.
