Hub Cap Woes

I'm working on a plane-jane '66 F-100 and trying to get it back stock. I know Ford changed from stock steel wheels that used the "innie" tabs from 1948 on, and went to the "outtie" tabs sometime around '65 or '66...certainly the "innies" were gone by 1967. So, I've got a set of "outtie" tabbed 15" wheels and I'd like to put the ol' dog dish style hub caps on. There are numerous reproduction caps that fit the "innie" tabbed wheels, like on my '64, but "innie-tabbed" wheels have literally become impossible to find in wrecking yards here due to the whole steel recyclying craze. Life would be very simple indeed if I could just find a set of those wheels, but for now I'm stuck with "outties" and am wondering what kind of Ford reproduction hub caps are out there that will fit adn are correct for this year. I've been studying e-bay for awhile and can't seem to find much that look restorable.

Tanks much!

AFAIK, there are no reproduction hubcaps available for outie wheels on trucks of this vintage.

The Custom Cab's used the exact same outie stainless steel hubcaps as 1964 Galaxies (C4AZ1130A).

The Standard Cab's used a painted version (C6TZ1130F). There were 6 of these NOS outie hubcaps available from Ford Dealers/obsolete parts vendors several days ago, but one member bought at least 2 of them.

There's a recent thread titled: 61-65 !5" rims in this forum where photos and part numbers of all the innie/outie hubcaps and the optional full wheel cover introduced in 1966 are listed.

You can buy "Baby Moons" for outie wheels from autoparts stores, SoCal Speed Shop.

thanks

Thanks for the part numbers. Were the truck and Galaxie hubcaps the ones with FORD written on eah half? The truck version I think was painted white with red letters. Did the Galaxie version use a chromed version of the same cap? Sorry to just mine away for information without much to offer in return! Thanks though.

Sorry...one more thing, you mention "Ford Dealers/obsolete parts vendors". Is there a certain vendor, or vendors? Are they linked to this web site, or is it just your list of good parts contacts? Just trying to get hold of them if possible...

chrome vs. painted

Forgive me for not reading more carefully...it makes me crazy when people ask me something about a post that's clearly answered already...I see now...chrome on custom cabs and Galaxies, painted on standard cab. Thanks.

surprise/interesting source for '66 F-100 hubcaps

In case anyone else is looking, ehubcap seems to regularly get the stainless and painted hubcaps in for the '66 F-100s...little spendy, but available....

So...I keep thinking "this really seriously can't be that hard", but I've now limited out on patience trying to find 10-1/4" ID baby moons for my '66 F-100. There are countless companies selling 10-1/8" diameter baby moons (direct from China), but these won't fit no matter what (though I did rather enjoy bashing the snot out of one with a rubber mallet in a final act of exasperation/frustration while trying to get it to fit). Anyway, I cannot find anyone selling the proper 10-1/4" moons for truck wheels with the outie nubs. Can anybody point me to a company that sells the 10-1/4" baby moons??
