Downloaded it last night. Air filter doesn't look to be the Donaldson. I actually like the previous oil filter on the 6.0's and 6.4's.
In is interesting the comments about the DEF; and keeping it off of the paint.
Nice how the EGR cooler can be bypassed by the PCM when not needed.
Was a surprise that the charge air cooler is air to water and the two separate liquid cooling systems with their two radiators is different.
The water drain on the fuel filter looks less substantial than the 6.4's.
Complicated, yes I agree.
Nothing to stop me of buying one short of seeing reports with diesel fuel dilution in the oil. IIRC they only inject the fuel for regen on one bank of cylinders during the exhaust stroke. If it had the ninth injector I would be in a bigger hurry to trade.
Good information and reading.

Check under your passenger side bumper and see if you have the cord tied up there. If not then the cord is all you need.

I need to look and see if mine has the cord but I don't think it is listed as one of the options.
Anyone have the part number/price for the cable or plug in cord ??

just wondering if a person could grab one for pretty cheap out of a junk yard / pick-your part....

Interesting read. Just skimming through the pictures, the one thing that really jumped out at me was on the bottom of page 7.
Anyone have any idea why Ford decided to number the cylinders differently than every other V-8 out there? Maybe a misprint? The top picture on page 9 seems to have a misprint crossing items 1 & 2 in the description.

The Air to water CAC doesn't surprise me considering the extra heat exchangers in the front of the fan. International is using this similar setup on their 2007 and up Big Bore 11 and 13 liter engines. Using a low temp radiator, but PCM controlled flow valves instead of temp regulated thermostats. These systems keep the air temperature more consistent by controlling the temp of the water cooling the charge air, but complicate things in he cooling system.
Looks like a Garret VGT turbo with the dual impeller compressor on it. Interesting that they have a different engine setup for the chassis model. Hopefully by now, Garrett has got down the turbo vane problems and there won't be many with these engines.
Looks like a good setup, but I don't know about servicing the thing. All the stuff is piled on top of the engine, and with water to air coolers, hopefully they made them so you can unbolt them and leave the water connected and just move them to the side. Oil cooler looks familiar, same principle design as the 6.0 anyways, but externally mounted. Hopefully less heat soak and longer life.

interesting that the book states the block heater is standard on every truck and the option is the cord.... mine has a metal plug with a hex head instead, in where it appears the block heater should be.....
