Just went to my sons football practice, and noticed when I shut the truck off, there was a clicking sound, sounding a little like morse code. I pulled the panel off under the steering column, and the noise got louder, but I couldn't pinpoint it. I accidentally pressed on the brake pedal, and the clicking went away. I'm going out again now that I'm at home to see if I can find the source. Does anyone have any ideas of what I may be looking for?
Any idea where I can find or look for said relay? I'm sure with my luck it's stuffed way back up underneath the dash huh?
I pulled all the fuses that deal with the braking system, and none of them stopped the chatter. Is the brake pedal maybe just a coincidence? Or is this potential relay a part of the braking circuitry?
When it does it again, you can feel around for the "hot" component.
OK, I found the relay that is chattering. It is right behind the lower middle panel, the one with the pedal adjustment switch, cup holder, etc. I've taken out the 3 bolts on the bottom, the 2 bolts holding the panel with the 'hangar' thing on it, and the 2 bolts that you see when you pull out the cup holder. Which bolts am I missing? The bottom is loose, but I don't want to pry too hard to get the top out in case I'm missing something. I'm sure someone has taken this panel off...any step by step instructions?
I found the relay I believe to be causing the problem. Not sure if it's the part number, but does F65B-13350-AA 2(4) x 32CP-12v DOT SAE) sound familiar? I did a google search on it, and came across an FTE website discussing it. The people did what I did, remove it, and the buzzing stopped. They bought a new one, installed it, and the buzz was still there, so they took it to Ford, and Ford found a bad turn signal/ multi-function switch.
Is there any way that I can verify this before I go to purchase a new one?
From what I understand, the multi function switch is in the steering column...has anyone done this themselves, or is this something that I need to make an appt with Ford to take care of?

Thanks again for all your help!
I have never had a issue with this relay you reffering to, but I can tell you its not hard to change the multi-function switch. It is the turn signal/wiper. Three phillips screws, remove the column covers and a torx bit and you're good to go.

Sweet...I'm going to go give that a shot now.
Now once I do that, what does the switch look like? Can I disconnect it, plug the blue box back in, etc...I guess what I'm asking, once I get to the switch, is there a way to make sure that it's the switch that's bad, or the 'blue box'??
I've got the steering column bottom cover off, but can't get the top one off due to the shift lever. Can someone please describe what the multi function switch looks like? I see a gray connector going into something right next to the turn signal / wiper lever. Is that it?
