Edelbrock accelerator pump

I was checking on my carb to resolve a rough idle issue today. In the process I worked the throttle linkage just to make sure everything pertaining to it was in order. Without it running I looked into the carb.I noticed that the accelerator pump starts squirting fuel almost from the beginning when pushing the throttle. I thought that the accelerator pump was only supposed to work when you smashed on the throttle. Am I wrong? Is it supposed to start squirting fuel even when just pressing the throttle normally?

Very normal for an edellbrock to squirt ''almost'' as soon as you hit it.
A holley squirts right from the beginning like a good carb should!

Thanks tinaheels. I've been doing a bit of reading on this whole Holley vs Edelbrock thing and I am seriously considering trying a Holley 600. I have a 750 Eddy on the truck now but I don't ever turn the rpms up high enough to need a carb that big. I would just like to try one to see if I would notice any diffterence in my low end.
