I tried searching but I didn't find what I was looking for. I was just wondering if frames on the older(80s to 90s)F600's, 700s, and 800s are just straight C-channel or are there any curves in them?
Is there a standard size for the c-channel on those trucks?
I'm not sure if that info is readily available, I couldn't find it anywhere.
It looks like the dimensions of the frame are standard 34-37 inches of separation between the rails and whatever wheel base is desired, but I have not seen what size of channel is used. The only thing I did find was a fire truck that had 12 inch rails, but that was through a random search on google.
Does anyone have a F600, 700, or 800 close by that could take a quick measurement for me, or better yet knows off the top of their head?
The F-6,7 & 8 would all have different size frame rails either in size or thickness. Then are the ones with double frames
In most places frame channel is special order and is not the same as structural channel
Frame shops and bed installers that specialize in heavy trucks stock it

In our shop when we do a frame job either shortening or a strech job , we have the frame sections custom bent for a perfect fit. I have found that most frames are not uniform and making a pattern and having it custom bent gives us a better job. Asfar as frame dimensions goes it usually depends on GVW and overall ordered length as to the thickness and frame highth , double frames and half wraps are usually determined by GVW requirements. Its not uncommon to find a heavier frame on a F600 than on a F800 it all depends on how the truck was ordered and spec'd out. A truck that was spec'ed for highway use will typically have a lighter frames than one set up for construction use. One company we work for buys road tractors and converts them to tri axle dumps. This entails converting them from single to double frame and adding a tag axle , and of course altering wheelbase .
