I am going to apologize and thank everone in advance for their patience.
A little more than a month ago, my 2004 studded, deleted, Innovative tuned, truck showed signs of FICM low voltage. I tested and found that to be the case. So a call to Swamps got a FICM on the way to me. That was installed over the July 4th weekend. It fixed some of the signs that I had from the FICM (Rough start and overall loss of power) it still had, what I would call a miss in the mid - to full throttle positions above 2500 rpm. Changing tunes, return to stock etc did nothing to improve it. If anything, just made it a little more noticeable.
The Navy saw fit to send me away for a month so I had to leave it at that. I was really hoping some elves would stop by the house while i was gone and I would come home and all would be well. Well that didnt work out too well.
So now I am back to where I was a month ago, truck starts fine, runs well as long as my foot is not in it. But it still runs like crap at mid to full throttle position about 2500 and above.
My obligatory pre post research has led me to these possibilities that I would like you all to weigh in on.
1. FICM low voltage caused damage to one or more injectors
2. HPOP issue (not really thinking this is the case but..)
3. Low fuel pressure ?
4. Black magic and my truck just dont like me anymore.
I love everything about my truck except the reliability. I really dont want a new truck (payment) but if I dont have a truck, my toys and toyhauler are just driveway ornaments.
also if you have the 03 engine also icp sensor /connector suspect
Is the missing another symptom of a bad ICP? I thought it was a go / no go deal. If it was bad, truck would not start. The ICP was changed out when we had it in for studs last winter. Is is plausible the ICP would go out that quick?

Was the connector/pigtail also changed?? Frequent problem with the 03.
I checked every every harness that i could for chafing or any other signs of wear. Is there a chart of pins to check for continuity? I know there could be a damaged connector or wire that is not visible but unless I know how to continuity check all the pins, i dont know what else to do on that.
So off to the ICP. Yep, that is a booger. Changed the ICP out and the pigtail connector. It looked like the connector had been changed out when it was in at OC Diesel last year but what the hell. All back together off for a test drive.
No change.
Had to use the truck for a run down to LAX and figured it might help me better describe it. After driving the truck in every possible manner, I have noticed that it is much more pronounced when the engine is warmer or when the RPMs come up quickly. If i roll up the RPMs and then go WOT, it cuts out much less.
So after a couple things eliminated, i am still at pretty much the same point.
So left on the list is the IPR. But I wanted to ask about the injectors again and maybe fuel pressure.
Is there a test to check the injectors? I borrowed a Snapon MODIS and ran through every diagnostic and no codes.
yes could be fuel pressure related.this goes back to injector concerns.
Im not to skilled with the snapon scanner so I cant awnser that.
I can tell you it can be done with fords IDS. and it maybe possible with AE's software
