Plastic bonding adhesive

I am trying to re attach the plastic body panel on my wifes Aviator and have a question on adhesives. The TSP for replacing the panel calls for the TA-9 motorcraft adhesive but you need a special gun because it's a two part product. I don't have the gun and don't want to spend $100 for it. Are there any prefered substitutes that can be used? I was at the local paint and body store and they have a two part that goes in a regular calking gun that is around $40 a tube. Is there anything that isn't $40-50 a tube? Would something like locktite adhesive work? Any other sources for adhesives you can recomend? Thanks in advance.

Al

Check Eastwood's website. They did sell the 2 part in a smaller set for under $30 with adapter for regular caulk gun. It's been about 2 years since I used it, but guess they still sell it.

Summit racing has a pretty big line of adhesives, and quite a few from loctite.

I looked at the site and from what I came up with thats for fixing plastic. I could be wrong.

I found out some info on the Maxim product line and it looks like I will give the Panel Bonding Adhesive #100815 a try. It sounds like this should work and you can use a regular caulk gun to apply. Has anyone used this product before? Does it cure hard or is it a little flexible? I think in my application it should be a little flexible not rock hard. I could be wrong but this is my guess.

This what I used to cut in a patch on a panel I didn't want to weld: No Weld Panel Adhesive Replacement I was using metel to metal so you might read the MDS.

I was looking at that stuff, I don't think it would work for my application and I would probably need 2-4 packs to install the panel. I assume that this dries hard. The MSDS link didn't work for me.

Same issue with my 03 Explorer. Seems like every model has a cracked rear panel. You would think you would see a lot of comments on how this issue was resolved by owners, but I still have to ask "what is the best
adhesive to use"?

Wow back from the dead. I wish I remember what I used to bond the panel but that was 8 years ago. I think I used the stuff from the local paint and body supply house just to be safe. We sold the Aviator not long after I put the panel on so I can't say how it held up either.
