A/C issue
My stepdad has an 03 F-350 diesel thats been giving him air-conditioning problems. He tells me that it was working well and sent the truck in to have the high pressure oil pump replaced. Since then, he says the A/C only blows warm air. He wonders if maybe something got unplugged or something. Also, he says that the freon is fine. I'm not sure what I think about it but I told him I'd look into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info, let me know.
Chris
I also checked to make sure the compressor is getting power, which it is.
When I run the A/C, hot air comes out (not outside temperature but hot air). Also, while the A/C is running, neither of the tubes coming off the a/c compressor gets cold. The tube coming from the engine side and bolting on the compressor (forward tube) appears to be loose (I can twist it easily by hand).
This makes me think maybe it needs recharged...the contradiction to this is my step dad said he's getting 100psi off it right now...
The only other thing I noticed is the tube that comes off the rear of the compressor and routes into a box...when the A/C is turned on, I can feel air coming out of the box where the tube goes in. I don't know if its normal or not so I figured I'd add that tid bit of information. (P.S., what is that box called?)
Forgive my non-technical choice of words. I have very little knowledge of an A/C system.
Thanks,
Chris
if you have any loose fittings, chances are you have little to no freon in it. That being a 03 truck, it should have R134A and should run around 35 psi on the low side suction while the compressor is running, may want to have someone look at it unless you have the right tools to do the job
