I thought Custom Cab related more to 60's era trucks than ours. I don't think I've ever seen a dentside labeled 'custom cab'...certainly labeled 'custom' though.
FYI...just because a dentside is labeled custom, doesn't mean it had to be bare bones...during that time period, you could add or subtract whatever you wanted...although it would tend to be more expensive to add options than just bumping to the next trim level and taking those same options as standard. So in theory, you could have a Custom better optioned than a Lariat.

Hmm.. Interesting! I never knew that. The more you know...
Aaron-71 is correct. "Custom Cab" was only up through 1972. Then it was shortened to only "Custom" and you could get virtually ANYTHING added to them.. thus, the Custom label. Everything was an option back then...
Dak
A Custom Cab was once the top of the line. Included a foam rubber seat cushion, better upholstery, two sun visors, anodized aluminum grille (chrome steel in '61), stainless steel hubcaps and windshield reveal mouldings, chrome (or plastic chrome) instrument cluster bezel, horn ring, drivers side armrest (passenger side was optional), padded dash (on some models thru 1966), door trim panels (1963/72) and etc.
None of this was available in a Standard Cab. 1965/72: When the Ranger package was ordered, the Custom Cab package was a prerequisite.
Edit: This info does not apply to 1973/79's....I should have made that clear.
For the build sheet, look in between the seat springs of the seat cushion, or under the floor mat/carpet.
My truck is a 1977 F-150 Custom.
On the report I got from Ford with the options, build date etc, one thing that is listed is "Custom Cab" and thats right from Ford.
I'm pretty sure the "Custom" trim level is still used today.
The dentside ''custom'' has nothing to do with the earlier ''custom cab'' packages. Custom Cab was the top level trim pkg. before our era.
Just like the Ranger package on dentsides have absolutely no relation to the current ''Ranger'' mini truck.

Dunno. Fords sheet they sent me actually says custom cab for my 1977. And I know I read somewhere that the custom cab was eventially shortned to just custom. Eh, who cares really just providing another point of view.
I have a 1992 F 150 Custom extended cab. It has a 5.0 with a manual transmission. It also has a 5 leaf heavy half and sway bar on rear axle. I understand it came from the dealer this way. The interior is simple with rubber floor mat, A/C, no power windows nor locks. I assume this is standard for this year range of a custom. I am having a terrible time finding the fender badge for it. I can find the F150XL and F150XLT badges everywhere but I can't seem to locate the F150Custome badge. I have one on my driver fender and tailgate, but lost the one on the passengers side. Does anyone know who would have those?
