Transmission swaps
I have been reading several threads in the past and it seems that the 4R100 has some inherent problems. Is there another transmission that can be swapped out on the 7.3l that is more reliable? Alternatively, are the custom mods to torque converter and other internals making this a great transmission?

The 4R100 can be a bulletproof transmission. Simplest way is to install a stout rebuilt transmission (or have yours rebuilt with better parts).
For example, ATS offers a rebuilt 4R100 with a 5 year/500,000 mile warranty.
