I left my headlights on once and killed my battery. Not normally a problem, but I have an alarm that kills the ignition. Can't even push start my 1999 Ford Ranger standard tranny/standard cab until the battery is charged enough to turn off the alarm.
Your Ranger came equipped with a warning chime that should be dinging when (1) the key is removed from the ignition, (2) the driver's door is open, and (3) the headlamps switch is ON. If yours doesn't ding when those conditions are met, then there is a problem in the circuit somewhere.
What kind of alarm system are you talking about? Factory or aftermarket?
Does the warning chime ever go off for any other reason?
I wonder if the Rattler addons somehow defeated the chime circuit.
That's my suspicion. It could even be something entirely innocent, like for example, a wire was accidentally spliced or otherwise damaged during the alarm installation.
Do you have any paperwork for the alarm system such as installation instructions, wiring diagrams etc.? Maybe you should contact customer support and see what they have to say about it.
