Hi guys the advice in this forum has always helped me out, my old work truck got a new problem now. If it sits overnite the next morning she will fire right up and then shut off. then you gotta crank the heck out of it then when it does fire up its kinda rough. I hate cranking it for that long its gotta be hard on batteries and starter and frankly its down right embarassing first thing in the morning. Im guessing from what ive read its air intrusion ? If you all think it is in your experience where would be the most likely culprit. It doesnt seem to matter which tank im pulling from. I dont see any leaky conditions around the fuel returns or injection pump. I dont know it is usually a hunt and punch kinda thing. any advice as always is greatly appreciated. thanks oh yeah its a 87 f-250 with a jasper 7.3 idi . c-6 auto 4x4.
The return line tee's on each injector have two O rings under each of them.
When the engine is not running, they are leaking air in, which drains the fuel filter.
The fuel is returning to the fuel tank, so no fuel on the outside of the engine or under the truck.
If you pull the fuel filter before you start the engine, you will see it is not full in the morning.
Fill it up and the die and hard restart will not happen.
