My 94 box truck does not want to start anymore. No more clicking after the wait light goes out. If I tap the controller she starts. I want my truck to be dependable so I purchased a new controller and 8 glow plugs. I noticed that the wire plastic tips for the glow plugs are all brittle and breaking apart. Can I replace these? The metal sockets are ok. If not. Then I will use vacuum hose to insulate the outside. Thanks.
definitely curious about the gps, and as far as the connectors, yes they will be fine to start it for awhile but get them replaced with new bullet connectors. Just go to a auto parts store and ask to see a GP then match a bullet connector to fit and you are good, cut, strip and clamp the new one, i would use the heat shrink method as well though. Your idea is solid but getting it to seal over the wire is the challenge. Using a high grade silicone or similar might work, best luck though!!!
the controller will be fine i would bet but the plugs i would ask to see a pic of. Make sure of the brand, i know you already bought it but that ad looks a bit shady.
Heat shrink tubing is a great idea. I will also see how the connectors look. I was going to do it tonight, because its cooler at night. But then the Thunder and lightning rolled in and that was the end of that job. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah. Thats what I hear. But, ill let you know how these Glow plugs work. If they are crap, then I will go and buy the Motorcraft. A few of these local cheapos told me to put a manual switch on my dash. I didnt want to butcher up the truck. So, I decided to spring for a new controller and all new glow plugs. U-haul replaced a few here and there. I have all the service records for the truck. Hey, how can you tell if a glow plug is shot? What is the life expectancy of a glow plug?

I suggest you go back a few post and read what just happend to Melvis,,he installed new autolites and they burned and one broke off a tip the FIRST time he used them, costing a pile of $, This forum is full of horror stories like that including me! Just hate to see you get takin by those GPs you bought without even knowing the brand.
The autolite plugs are known to swell up meaning you can't remove them without breaking the tip and then having to pull the head.
Let me start by saying I am the Tech manager for Autolite. Our glow plugs are made by WAP, Wellman Automotive products in Indiana. We are the only glow plug made in the USA. I would love to see substantiation of your claims as I just got off the phone with their warranty claims line. They have NEVER had a claim for "swelling glow plugs" as you say. So, please prove your claim by showing us all proof of it. Honeywell is the parent company of Autolite, we stand behind our products 100%.
To the guy in Canada, send me your year, make and model and I will send you a set of Autolite glow plugs on me. Jay.Buckley@Honeywell.com
Ah-Ha!! Research is good! I dont care what this guy says to many accounts of this here.Is he talking about you Wreckinball?? I would like to hear that conversation. Can you get your money back?? Might be a good idea............
I guess I will need to go for more money for the glow plugs. Is this true that they swell up and you cant remove them? Do you need to apply anti seize lube to the threads? What a friggin mess.
