AutoEnginuity Engine Oil Temp

Just got AE and have been playing with it. Truck is a 95 Powerstroke, flashed with the latest and greatest software.

Anyway, the EOT tops out at 150.0 per AE. You can see it rise up to that point but AE never shows higher than that. I know the EOT sensor is higher though because a CCT succeeds and my understanding is EOT has to be 158 or higher to run it.

Anybody else seeing this? If anybody has an OBS and AE, could you post what you see for the EOT? And your AE settings?

no problems with my scan gauge.

Are you sure your on the right setting?
I have to use the wrong setting on my scangauge, then it works.

There is one for 94-95's, and another one for 96+. I have to us the 96+ one. otherwise it tells me my oil temp is 450 degree.

IIRC the EOT needs to be higher than 137F to run a CCT.
It takes a long time to get the EOT up to your coolant temp (~180F), About 20 miles of hard running.

But doesn't it still seem odd that it would hit 150.0 and just stop. Never 149.9, 150.1, etc.? I 'll take it out on the freeway for 20 miles next time I try but the fact that it is "stuck" at that number seems odd.

It does seem odd. Just thought you needed to know why your CCT ran, I knew it was lower than 158F.
Have you called AE yet? I've had good experiences with them over the phone. They walked me through my stupidity lol, they even sent me a new connector after I fried one during a firmware update....heck, they even helped me get my *%#@! PC fixed.

Hey, that reminds me, have you updated your software and firmware. There was a new release recently.

Well I just bought it but that's not a bad idea. Sometime the suff on the shelf is not the latest and greatest. I'll give that a shot.

BTW, is there a good AE for Powerstrokes reference somewhere? That would be a fantastic resource. What things to monitor, what the ranges should be, etc.

Just went out and tried again. Same results. Also, the CCT did not run until it had been at the 150.0 reading for a while. Per this link, for my truck to run a CCT, it has to be at 170.

That link is the only one that I know of for AE support. You are correct, the EOT needs to be above 165F according to the Service Manual (quote below). This is the first time I've actually looked up the specs for a CCT......I just used info passed on to me here on good ole FTE. It may be the EOT voltage reading that caused the confusion (1.37 volts below).

DTC 0196 or 0195 indicates that the engine oil temperature is not warm enough to perform a KOER Cylinder Contribution Self Test. The engine oil temperature must be greater than 74°C or 165° F (1.37 volts).

Just heard back from AE support. They have confirmed that this is a software bug that will be fixed in the next release.
