My SD came with Continental tires. Some family this past weekend was telling me of their horrible experiences with the tires. Both my cousin and a buddy of his had the tires start failing around 20K because they'd hold on to rocks and push them into the tire as the tread wears. They live in Montana with different road conditions that us here in Seattle, but I have noticed that the tires hold on to rocks like a crack addict.
What are other folks' experience with these tires? I'm wondering if I need to watch the tread wear and replace them early.
I've heard the truck tires aren't good at all. Friends with the newer Expeditions hate the Continentals. They wear quickly & unevenly and some have even experienced sidewall bubbles or even blowouts. I'm not sure how differently the Super Duty spec'd tires compare, other than the load range being higher. I'm just speaking from what I have heard. I've never actually experienced running a Continental tire.
I'm going to bump this up one time. No one else has any other feedback? Some searching here turned up some fairly negative posts from a few years back, but I'm hoping others will chime in with more current info.
Actuall the Continental is an OK over-the-road tire. It has a decent ride, works well for towing and has decent traction on wet pavement.
Winter driving or running on slick off-road surfaces is another story. You definetely need 4WD in those conditions.
I ended up running the stock Continentals in the summer and better tires in the winter. Still waiting for the Continentals to wear out. They seem to be tougher than we might believe.
At 30k the continentals that came on my truck were bald. They held up ok, just didnt last long.
No need to waste a tire full of tread but don't expect them to last long and replace them as soon as they get down to the wear bars.
got Continental Tr on my 2011 F-350 lwb 4x4. Have read a lot of bad things about them. But here in Southern Indiana we have had some snow and ice and this tires have gotten me down the road where other tires just sat there and spun. Have not had to use 4x4 yet. Was wondering if the other people was just pushing them to hard for the conditions. Or maybe I was being to patient in my driving.

No, you just have a good truck. General/Continental tires suck. Just keep being patient... you'll see! Then you'll put good tires on a good truck & really be amazed!
DLP PERFORMANCE I have been looking for new tires for my new F-350. Been looking on line at all brands. But cannot decide what to buy to many choices. Have read all the threads on FTE about tires but like all things out there you have to get what serves your needs the best you can
