18" VS 20" Wheels

My plan is to add some moto metals in 18x9 of 20x9 chrome wheels.
With around 33" rubber.. Eg - 305x55/20 or 305x65x18's.

Please give me some input on ride change for these ?
I have just ordered Rancho 9000's all around so this should help a little.
I plan on lifting the mininum for these wheels whatever I get.

W or V codes up front !

My Ex is a 2003 7.3 4x4. 118,000 miles

Thanks for any help

Kyle

I saw a set of these at the auto recyclers this past weekend for around 1k with some low profile tires. I think they were the 18"

I cannot say uniquely for the exact set up you mention, but have done similar stuff over the years.

the 20" look sic compared to the 18", but you'll get a bit more road noise with the 20"

and feel every bump in the road as compared to the 18". So a slight diminish in ride quality as compared to the 18.

Tire selection with the 20" will be more limited as well.

One is always concerned with hitting monster potholes with 22", 24"...etc and bending the rim, but you should be OK.

Advantages and disadvantages both ways.

I picked up a used set of 20x10 Mazzi Hulk rims last week, and a used set of Harley Davidson take-off tires to try them out on the wife's X. The tires are 275/65R20, and the OEM calls for an 8.5-9.5" wide rim, so I am hoping I can get them on some 10's just to see how it will look, before I drop the coin for some new tires.

The HD tires are about 34" wide, so they should fit under my V code setup...

I think 20s match the X really well if its lifted. Since you're going with 33s, I would go with the 18s so that you do not have a big rim with small off road tire.

After running my 20's with essentially some 34's for the last few weeks, I think I agree that 18's are about the biggest I'd run for any tire under 35" tall. Oh well - I got a deal on mine so they are gonna have to do
