Tonneau Cover preferences
I have a "new to me" 2005 F250 PSD, short bed that I want to get a retractable tonneau cover. I just can't afford the electronic ones. You guys have any preferences? I was looking at the Rollbak G2. My old truck had the Pace Edwards cheaper version (standard model) that worked alright but was wondering if you all had any suggestions for retractable, aluminum, tonneau cover. Any better places to purchase??
Thanks for any help

The Extang covers mentioned above are not retractable.
The best retractable is the Truck Covers USA's American Roll Cover. But, it's very expensive. Good bang for your buck cover is Retrax. RollNLock is another popular cover, but it's vinyl laminated aluminum and the vinyl fades. The Pace Edwards Full Metal Jack Rabbit is a good cover. Personally, I would not by anything from Bak including their Rollback or foldable covers.

I have an Undercover hard tonneu on my short bed and really like it. Weighs about 40 lbs and can be taken off in seconds. You can stand on it too. The main reasons I went with it is it comes off really quick and is completely lockable. When there is several grand worth of stuff in the back of my truck I need it secure. Plus they are not expensive, I paid $600 for mine like 4 years ago.
I know you said you want a retractable but just throwing the Undercover out there. Undercover is the new standard in tonneau covers. Our Patented X-effect design and advanced polymers give this tonneau cover unparalleled strength and durability at a fraction of the weight and less cost than fiberglass.

Thanks for all the replys. I forgot to add that I want the locking feature as I travel and want to lock up the cargo, so it looks like the Access ones are not a fit. I've looked at the Retrax one and it seems that most are pretty happy with it. I also don't want to do the vinyl covered thing again. My last one faded pretty bad.

More info on Retrax:
The canister is a bit larger than other retractable covers. It costs the least of the retractable covers. It is not spring loaded like the other covers, so you can move it into any position and lock it into place. The Lexan won't fade, but you can apply a non-abrasive wax to it. The rails are powdercoated, so you should periodically apply an auto wax to prevent fading.

The Bakflips are the most popular BAK covers. Prior models literally fell apart. The newer ones are better but still have some problems. The seals on the Bakflips are thin and flimsy. The end of the cover (at the tailgate) looks "unfinished". The F1 for Fords (only) are probably the best bet though. The cover does look really good on a truck.
That being said, you probably can find some happy Bakflip owners, but you won't have any problems finding unhappy Bakflip owners.
